Youth Biodiversity Leaders

A fellowship programme to build your skills, expand your network, and take your conservation impact to the next level.

What

Young leaders are already taking the future in their hands. Youth-led conservation efforts such as awareness raising campaigns, coastal clean-ups, online task forces to combat illegal wildlife trafficking via social media, amongst others, are already contributing to the fight against biodiversity loss.

Who

Each year, 2 Youth Biodiversity Leaders will be selected from each ASEAN Member State to form a YBL Cohort. Youth Biodiversity Leaders are advocates and leaders of conservation efforts in their respective locations. They should:

18 – 35 years old

Citizen of an ASEAN Member State, residing in the ASEAN region

Member, coordinator or founder of a youth organisation, university nature club, or other community initiative for biodiversity

Must have experience with biodiversity projects (awareness raising, campaigning, conservation, etc)

Committed to all components of the YBL Fellowship programme

Able to communicate in English (written and spoken)

Programme Funding Covered

 ✔ In-depth training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to take their conservation impact to the next level

✔ For YBL Academy & other optional in-person meetings, if selected for that meeting: Roundtrip economy airfare (only flights within Southeast Asia will be funded)

✔ For YBL Academy & other optional in-person meetings, if selected for that meeting:
In-country travel, accommodation, and general food expenses covered for the duration of the Academy

✔Visa fees if necessary

Not Covered

✖ Local transport to and from the participant’s home and departing airport for all meetings and workshops

✖ Medical Health or Life Insurance for participation in the YBL Academy and programme components
